Mushroom Substrate Operations is an early research project exploring operations software for mushroom substrate producers.
What we investigate
We are interested in everything between order intake and dispatch of finished substrate: demand calculation; availability of straw, chicken manure and gypsum; purchase preparation; production planning; batch identification; quality control; and logistics. Each stage has a physical consequence, but it also depends on information moving reliably.
Our starting hypothesis is that even when the technological process is highly automated, some operations may still take place across disconnected spreadsheets, systems and conversations. We do not assume this applies to every facility. Customer discovery should reveal where friction actually occurs and whether a shared operations layer would be useful.
Why this problem
This field sits at the intersection of industry, biology, logistics and software. It is concrete: an input must arrive in the right quantity and at the right time, a batch must pass through the process, and a customer expects a delivery with the right parameters. That context lets us examine technology through real decisions rather than abstract feature lists.
An honest status
This is a prototype and research initiative. It is not production SaaS and it makes no claims about customer deployments, industrial integrations or verified savings. It does not make autonomous purchases. The current phase is for industry conversations, process mapping and testing assumptions before decisions about further development.
